Europeana is a digital platform on european cultural heritage, developed by the Foundation based in Europeana - the hague and co-founded by the european union - in the participating institutions, researchers, teachers, students and cultural industries in more than 20 nationalities.
Its aim is to the dissemination of european cultural heritage, making it accessible to a greater number of people possible through a digital environment. Its priority is to pursue the sharing of collections from different cultural institutions, with the highest quality, thus contributing to achieving an open society, creative and expert digitally dispose of their property in their day to day, for the development of their work, their learning or pleasure.
European archivísticas institutions who want to contribute in Europeana, have to do so, with the support and assistance of the European Portal which acts as content aggregator archivísticos to Europeana. For that each country has the shape of the country manager, and act as intermediaries in order to facilitate the exchange of data and provide counselling institutions, both administrative and technical, to solve the problems arising from the provision of content to Europeana.
